As a course provider, you have the ability to assign categories and tags to your courses. Categories and tags are essential for search results on our marketplace, as customers can filter by categories and tags. Additionally, we at Cademy are creating landing pages that are pushed to Google with specific categories, so ensuring your courses are correctly categorized and tagged is essential.

Table of Contents:

Course Categories

There are more than 2000 categories for course providers to assign to their courses. In addition to the "Main Category", you can add "Additional Categories" to further specify your course. Choosing the most relevant category is essential to ensure maximum visibility for your course.

Here is how you can add categories to your course:

  • Create a new course or go to your existing course settings.

  • Under the "Search Details" section, you will see a field labelled "Main Category".

  • Click on the dropdown menu to see a list of available categories, or start typing to search for a specific category.

  • Select the most relevant category as the "Main Category" for your course.

  • You also have the option to select "Additional categories" to specify your course's matter further.

Remember to choose categories that accurately describe the main topic of your course to ensure maximum visibility in search results.

Course Tags

You can add up to 20 tags to your course, which will help customers find your course when browsing the marketplace. You also have the option to create your own tag if none of the existing tags are relevant to your course.

Here is how you can add categories to your course:

  • Create a new course or go to your existing course settings.

  • Under the "Search Details" section, you will see a field labelled "Tags".

  • Click on the dropdown menu to see a list of available tags, or start typing to search for a specific tag or add your own tag.

Important: Please do not add cities, streets, or postcodes as tags, as the course location is already filtered from the course location field. Adding location information as tags may confuse customers and affect the visibility of your course in search results. Instead, choose tags that are specific and relevant to the content of your course.

Educator's Profile Tags and Categories

In addition to categorising and tagging your courses, you can also add tags and categories to your Educator profile to increase visibility and discoverability on the Cademy marketplace. This will help potential customers find you as an educator and explore your courses.

To add tags and categories to your Educator profile, follow these steps:

  1. Go to Cademy - Admin

  2. Click on Profile

  3. Under the Search Details section, you will see fields for "Categories" and "Tags"

Add categories and tags that are relevant to your expertise and the courses you offer. These might be slightly different from the ones assigned to your courses.

Once you have added categories and tags to your Educator profile, they will appear in a designated section on your profile about page. Customers can then click on these tags and categories to explore more courses on those topics.

Your Educator profile can also be featured at the bottom of category pages on the Cademy marketplace, highlighting educators who teach courses within that category. This provides another opportunity for potential customers to discover your profile and explore your courses. By properly tagging your profile and courses, you can increase your chances of being highlighted in the marketplace.

Remember that adding relevant tags and categories to both your courses and your educator profile increases the chances of being discovered on Cademy's marketplace. By taking the time to optimise your profile, you'll ensure that potential customers can easily find and engage with your content.

The Marketplace Search Page

On the Cademy Marketplace search page, you can filter the results by "Main category" and "Additional Categories", "Tag", "Delivery method", and "Location". Assigning relevant categories and tags to your course will ensure that it appears in these filters, making it easier for customers to find.
